Here you’ll find our KINSEI raw jute ropes in diameters of 6 mm, 5.5 mm and 5 mm. You’ll need to treat the ropes yourself and prepare them for use. We’ve provided some suggestions and methods for conditioning them here.
KINSEI sits beautifully between KIYOMI and Mitsuki: softer and more supple than KIYOMI, yet a touch firmer and tougher than Mitsuki.

ø 6mm KINSEI golden premium jute rope, Z-twist medium-lay jute rope for Shibari & Kinbaku applications, untreated, JBO-free | TheRopestry

KINSEI jute rope – a particularly soft and flexible 3-strand Z-twist rope made from single-ply yarn, perfect for Shibari & Kinbaku. Softer than KIYOMI and slightly firmer than Mitsuki, mineral-oil-free, with very low fibre loss and a beautiful golden colour. Ideal for floor work (ø 6 mm also for suspension work at your own risk). What makes KINSEI so special: Soft, flexible & skin-friendly KINSEI is medium-wound and feels pleasantly soft. There are no prickly fibres that can penetrate the skin. It becomes even more supple with use and remains low-maintenance – perfect for prolonged skin contact. 100% Natural Made from 100% premium-grade Tossa jute (Corchorus olitorius). Biodegradable, mineral-oil-free (JBO-free) and VOT-batched with soybean oil. It leaves no harmful residues. Easy conditioning Before you use the rope, you should condition it. Don’t worry – we include step-by-step instructions. This way you can prepare your KINSEI rope perfectly for your sessions. For conditioning we recommend our vegan rope butter. Custom knots & markings The rope ends are wrapped with tape so you can create your own knots and, if desired, add colourful markings of your choice. You decide what your rope should look like. We have provided an additional approx. 30 cm of rope for the knots (e.g. a 4 m rope is actually approx. 4.30 m long, etc.). High-quality yarn with very low fibre loss The yarn has been specially treated to reduce fibre abrasion. After conditioning, fibre loss remains minimal – your play area stays cleaner. Hardly any impurities and the natural odour of fresh jute. Ready for your next rope experience? If you haven’t experienced KINSEI yet, now’s the perfect time. Dive into a world of soft, golden premium jute, high quality and endless possibilities. Explore our rope sets, rope butter and accessories and let your imagination soar! JBO-FREE – SKIN-FRIENDLY – BIODEGRADABLE Materials: Jute yarn: 100% Corchorus olitorius premium Tossa jute Batching oil: Soybean oil Available sets / lengths: 4 m, 6 m, 8 m, 10 m, 12 m and 16 m (depending on diameter and set composition) Diameters: ø 6 mm, ø 5.5 mm, ø 5 mm Lay: medium-wound, Z-twist, 3 strands, single-ply yarn Processing: untreated / raw Breaking load (reference value daN): ø 5 mm: 113 daN ø 5.5 mm: 137 daN ø 6 mm: 162 daN Note: The stated breaking load is a reference value based on a tested section of the product. As this is the first batch of KINSEI, long-term practical data is not yet available. Manufactured in small batches: KINSEI is handcrafted in small batches by a dedicated team on traditional machinery. Individual mother spools may therefore differ slightly in measured diameter and lay within the same nominal diameter. When you buy a set, the ropes in the set can consequently vary slightly from one another. This is not a defect, but inherent to batch production and does not affect quality or usability. Ships from Germany. Important information about the product: With KINSEI, strand joins are executed seamlessly (the ends of a strand lie neatly side by side) instead of using many knots. Please inspect the rope before use for such transition sections (approx. 50–100 cm) and remove them if necessary. We also recommend removing any rare joining knots from yarn spinning wherever possible. Further detailed product safety and usage guidelines for our products can be found here.

ø 6mm KINSEI golden premium jute rope, Z-twist medium-lay jute rope for Shibari & Kinbaku applications, untreated, JBO-free | TheRopestry

Vegan rope butter for the care and conditioning of natural jute ropes, shiny finish

We are proud to offer to you our vegan rope butter for the ongoing care and conditioning of jute ropes for bondage, Shibari and Kinbaku. This rope butter is handmade by us following a self-developed and widely tested recipe and is a balanced mixture of Jojoba oil and Mokurō wax. Compared to the traditional rope butter with beeswax, the vegan rope butter gives your rope significantly more shine than the rope butter with beeswax, whose finish is fairly matte. It comes in a solid plastic pot that contains a generous 100 g / 3.5 oz of rope butter. You will also receive a booklet with tested instructions on how to apply this butter during the conditioning process to your ropes. So, you have easy-to-follow step by step instructions to achieve the best possible results and end up with amazing ropes. The feel of a rope is crucial. Conditioning also improves the handling of the rope, reduces wear, and tends to reduce fibre loss. It also gives a lovely patina to the rope. The rope butter can be worked into a rope whenever needed e.g. after extensive use, or if it becomes dry. Dosage: For conditioning an 8m rope, we recommend using approximately 3g of butter (about a hazelnut-sized amount). 100 g of rope butter is therefore sufficient to condition at least 30 pieces of 8m jute rope. Care well for your ropes and enjoy them for longer! Further detailed product safety and usage guidelines for our products can be found here.
